For the Sortition Foundation's first-ever US project, we supported the New York City Civic Engagement Commission to select by lottery five representative and diverse Borough Assembly Committees in their citywide participatory budgeting process, The People's Money. The Borough Assembly Committees deliberated on ideas generated by the residents across the five boroughs and narrowed down the ideas to be placed on the ballot.
Each committee's selection will be put to a borough-wide vote and the winners announced in June 2023.
